Kitchen flood

Water Damage in a Kitchen

The cracked sink in this home resulted in extensive damage to the outdated asphalt floor tiles. Because SERVPRO is Faster To Any Size Disaster, we arrived speedily and mitigated the water damage. Though we removed the tiles lifting due to loss of adhesion to the floor, we salvaged the cabinets and appliances. We are here to help, 24/7.

smoke webs

Pearland Fire Damage Cleanup

After fire damage hit this Pearland home, SERVPRO techs found a number of smoke webs. When plastics burn, it creates a higher charge and the smoke webs form, this is one way that the articles consumed in a fire can get determined through a visual inspection.

moldy carpet

Mold is an After Effect of Storm Damage

Concrete slab is infamous for absorbing moisture after water damage and a secondary issue after storm damage can crop up as a mold infestation on this carpet. SERVPRO techs removed the carpet, dried the substrate and treated the area with antimicrobial cleaning agents.

We have been in Business for 19 Years

Jan 2019 was our 19th anniversary. It was then, that Pat Munoz began a two-man business, with one truck, just a little bit of equipment and a whole lot of passion for helping people. Today, we have over 30 employees, enough vehicles for multiple crews, and a lot of high tech equipment to support our community even in storm situations.

Our Warehouse

One of the most challenging times you may experience, is when your home or business is affected by water damage. As difficult as it may be during a time like this, you can count on your local SERVPRO of Friendswood/Pearland heroes to save the day. Depending on the size or extent of the damage caused by the water loss, we may be obligated to remove all the contents from the affected area. You can trust our professional staff to pack, inventory, and store your contents in our warehouse facility. The process begins by taking a detailed inventory of your items with photos to ensure that all your items are documented. After all your items are inventoried, it is then brought back to our facilities where they are stored.

We Support our Community

Each Year we encourage all insurance agents, adjusters, and SERVPRO employees to bring in new, unwrapped toys to support the toy drive. We will donate these toys to Toys for Tots this year!

CE Class

Every other month we host Continuing Education Classes for those in our community who need these credits. We offer the classes for free to local Insurance Agents, Adjusters and Property Managers. On these days, we offer free breakfast and lunch during the classes. This is a great way to get to know our company and the things that we do. We try to offer classes that people are interested in and need.

Hurricane Michael in Florida

Office Fire Forgotten

This company evacuated their building after an electrical fire and didn't return for months. After some time, they decided it was time to return. But recovering from a fire requires a lot more than just letting the smoke clear. As seen in the picture above, leaving a fire to sit will cause an irreparable situation. At this stage the entire building is better left completely gutted or demolished, costing tens of thousands. Don't put your business on hold because of a fire. Please, call us and prevent a bio hazard. We can help. SERVPRO of Friendswood/Pearland 281-412-6211.

Soot In The Air

Made of the same stuff as smokewebs, black flecks or soot can be found throughout the home even in rooms that are located far away from any fire. In a business, any room that shares the same air ducts as the afflicted space could have soot settle.

Water Heater Leak

On the outside it can be hard to see a leak, but you will notice it quickly once water starts draining into your carpet and on your belongings. Water Heaters are among the top causes of water damages in a residence. If you suspect there is something wrong with your Water Heater call a plumber asap. But if the worst happens, you can always call SERVPRO of Friendswood/Pearland!

Snow in TEXAS?!

Who can forget the time it snowed in Houston Texas? January 16, 2018 was a magical day for Houstonians as the snow created a white blanket over the city. However bringing with it frozen pipes, cars, and plants.

Hiding In The Corner

Even a slow leak can cause more damage than you would expect. The storage room seen here had just that located in the shadows of the room where no one noticed for days. Luckily for them, because it was all located on a single panel it was simple to remove and replace.

Fallen Branches

If your home is surrounded by trees you know one of the greatest hazard during a strong storm or just on a windy day is flying debris from the trees. Large branches, like the one seen here, can fall on your roof and create a sizable hole opening you up your attic to the elements.

Document Recovery

Soot tends to linger in the air even after the fire has been put out. It will get inside important documents and turn their pages black, making them unreadable. To prevent stirring up the soot and chemicals in the air, further damaging important items, we seal off the create a sort of barrier such as the one seen here inside the home or business. Our SERVPRO team is specially trained to preserve pages in their current state until they can be transported to our facility to be properly restored.

A Pack-out For Your Home Or Business

An unexpected cost of a water damage can be having to rent out a storage facility to house all your valuables while the Mitigation team does their duty. One of the amazing features SERVPRO of Friendswood/Pearland offers is the ability to document and house all of your items in our secure facility. Our documenting is so detailed, if there is an important item you need that has been packed, we are able to find the exact location and box it was housed in. Saving you time, money, and stress.

Mildew On The Ceiling

See the little splotches on the ceiling? That is growing mildew from a busted pipe in the bathroom above. The family here let it sit for the weekend before calling SERVPRO and it had already begun to show signs of fungal growth. Once it reaches this stage the drywall needs to be removed and replaced. This is why it is crucial that if there is ever a water leak in your home you need to call SERVPRO right away!

Access Holes

When a water damage occurs, access holes need to be drilled into the sides of cabinetry and some walls. Though they appear alarming they allow our tools to thoroughly dry all moisture present wherever it may be. This prevents the growth of mildew and mold in your home. Do not despair, the holes are easily repaired afterwards!

Mold In Crevasse

Mold likes to take hold in small, dim, damp places. The corner seen here has retained moisture from a pipe leak and sprouted mold. You can even see where it has followed the water line down the length of the trim.

Mold Under Sink

If you have a slow drip from the bottom of your faucet, that is all the moisture you need to establish a breeding ground for mold. It only takes 48 hours for mold to begin growing so its recommended to get all leaks fixed as soon as possible.

Appliances and Fires

It is a good idea to replace all electronic appliances that were close to the fires origin. The intensive heat may have melted important electrical components. With contents coverage with your insurance company, they may even pay to have it replaced.

Water Stain

Does this ugly brown circle look familiar? If it does, it might be time to call a plumber or roofer. This is a water stain caused by a leak in the above floor. In this particular case, it was a leak in the roof. In an office building it can be an unsightly pimple warding off potential customers by making them think "If this company can't even take care of their building, how can they take care of me?" Even worse, something small like this can always turn into a much larger damage as bad as the roof falling in. In this stage, fixing the leak and a quick trip to Home Depot to replace the tile is all you need. But if left unchecked, disaster could put your business out for days! If that happens SERVPRO of Friendswood/Pearland will be there to help get you back on your feet.

Keeping Your Items Safe

When disaster strikes, it is a good idea to get all valuables and furniture out as soon as possible while mitigating and repairing the environment. No need to rent a temporary storage facility that would cost hundreds when your Mitigating team will store it for you. Here at SERVPRO of Friendswood/Pearland we have an extremely organized pack out system allowing us to keep track of all your items with detailed precision so nothing is lost, forgotten about, and can be cleaned on site when required.

Loose Window

Buildings that are taller are more exposed to the elements and at a higher risk for wind damage than those closer to the ground. The high up window seen here was loosened enough that water was able to seep through the cracks during a very windy storm.

A Crack In The Ceiling

Backed up water pressure caused the ceiling in this home to visibly split and leak in between the stories of the home. It wasn't until the homeowners began to notice a dripping from the ceiling that something was wrong. Remember to look up from time to time.

Soaking Furniture

When water soaks into your carpet it sucks it up like a sponge. Any furniture left to sit in the water begins to slowly soak it up as well. Caught early on, some damages can be repaired. The dresser foot seen here is actually still in a repairable stage.

Water Trails

Water was pooling in the attic of this home for an extended period of time. Though the ceiling remained in tact, the water started dripping along the sided of the wall and was left to dry. If not cleaned, it leaves behind a yellowing trail of tears like the ones seen here.

Moldy Carpet

Left to soak in water, if not dried properly and immediately, carpet is an excellent home source for mold growth. The mixture of dirt tracked in from the outside and the warm environment makes for a perfect moldy jungle.

Interior Mold

When your home has experienced a large water damaged and left to soak for a decent period of time mold may begin to grow in the insulation between the walls. If left untreated it will begin to produce a foul smell and grow on the outer side of the drywall.

Winter Storm Inga

The Winter Storm of 2018 froze many pipes in the Houston area. Most homeowners in Houston had little to no idea on how to protect their property from the bitter chill resulting in their pipes bursting and causing large water damages like the one seen here.

Winter Storm Tip: If there is a Winter advisory in effect leave your faucets dripping and cover your exposed outdoor pipes to prevent a bust.

Drooping Ceiling

If your ceiling begins to drip and you notice it caving in, building a 'T' structure with spare 2 by 4 boards as seen here may provide just enough support to keep it from caving in.

That Smokey Look

Don't be fooled by the trendy dark color of the walls. That is not the color they were meant to be. What you see is actually residue from a kitchen fire staining the walls black and brown.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day!

Smokeweb

What you see is not the result of an ordinary cobweb being darkened by smoke from a fire as many people immediately assume. Though the majority of the time you will only see them after a large house fire has occurred. It is something much more chemically astounding. These incredible web like structures are actually residual crystals that have formed from burning plastic particles being released into the air and coming together again to form in the corner of a room.

Toilet Supply Line

Did you know that most of our calls are from customers with supply line leaks?

We highly suggest you check all of your supply lines (toilets, ice makers, dish washer, and washing machine) and upgrade to a ball valve for all of your connections.

  • Made from an alloy of copper and zinc, brass valves offer malleability and corrosion resistance, with added durability. Brass valves are stronger and harder than copper, yet more malleable than steel and iron, allowing them to resist cracking. They will not rust.

Happy Holidays

From our family to yours.  May your holidays be filled with love, relaxation, and great times with family and friends.

When you are dealing with water damage, immediate action is crucial. SERVPRO of Friendswood/Pearland respond immediately and use advanced equipment and techniques to remove the water quickly. They closely monitor and document the drying process to verify your property is dried properly and thoroughly.

Fire Safety Tips

Fire Safety Tips

  • Install smoke alarms in every room
  • Buy flame-less candles and do not light decorative candles
  • Know your escape route in every room of the home
  • Feel the door before entering to determine if there is fire on the other side.
  • Practice fire safety with your kids at least twice a year

Would You Enter This Room?

Before you enter this room, what hazards do you see?

Possible safety hazards include further collapse, electrical hazards, and more.

Think it stops at water damaged ceilings, think again. The longer you wait to initiate water damage cleanup the more the ceiling and wall paint will discolor, plaster will bulge. In addition, damage can occur to mounted lights and ceiling fans. Mold growth can result quickly in untreated water damage.

SERVPRO of Friendswood/Pearland is here for you 24/7/365 with a licensed, expert team that will restore your property back to pre-disaster condition quickly, affordably and with integrity. Visit us at:

https://www.SERVPROfriendswoodpearland.com

or call us at (281) 412-6211.

How to Avoid Secondary Damage

When your commercial building experiences water flowing into areas where it is not designed for, water damage can result. There are two different kinds of water damage, primary and secondary.

Water damage can still occur months after water has even cleaned up by homeowners or tenants, and this is why expert water removal services should be used.

When resulting from water damage, properties that have had major spills indoors should be cleaned up as soon as possible. Significant leaks need professional cleaning and extraction.

When you have water damage, make it a priority to call us. SERVPRO of Friendswood/Pearland at (281) 412-6211, as we can help you reduce the damaging effects of water damage and mitigate the chance that secondary water damage can happen.

Water Heater Overflow Cleanup

One of the most prevalent causes of indoor flooding is water heater overflows.

Water can damage your home in many ways. Most of the time it's an external threat, but sometimes a leak from inside can cause just as much, or even more, damage.

For example, a leak in the water heater in the Union County, Pa., Government Center unleashed 2,000 gallons of water in early July; this affected about 12,000 square feet of the building, and the estimated repair cost totaled $100,000.

Must have been a massive water heater, right? Not really. All of the damage was caused by a leak in a 30-gallon water heater, smaller than many of the ones found in residences.

Commercial Flood Damage

Following a catastrophic event a local retailer suffered flood waters of about 4 feet deep. Notice the silt damage to the carpeting and floor. The after picture is reflective of the final stages of mitigation before repair work was to start. SERVPRO, with the proper resources and knowledge put the customers mind at ease and stayed in touch daily about the progress being made on the job.
